Charles Drukis


Charles "Chuck" Drukis, 61, passed away at home with his family by his side on September 20, 2012, due to complications of pancreatic cancer. He was born April 1, 1951, in Benton Harbor, MI. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Monica, and sons, Edward and Ian. Charles was preceded in death by his son, Charlie, and his parents, Voldemars and Rufina Drukis. A loving husband and father, he coached various youth sports in Dexter and especially loved coaching baseball for his sons' teams. Chuck was an avid Chicago sports fan who loved to golf with his family and friends. Always quick with a joke, he brought joy into the lives of those who knew him. He was proud of his heritage and traveled to Latvia in 2008 to visit his extended family. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1973 and received his Juris Doctor from the Detroit College of Law in 1977. He became a lawyer because of his desire to serve his community. The Washtenaw County Bar Association selected him to receive its Professionalism and Civility in the Practice of Law Award in 2012. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society or University of Michigan Pancreatic Research Fund. A visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 25 from 1:00 - 5:00pm at Hosmer Muehlig Funeral Chapel and then from 6:30-8:00 with a 7:30 scripture service to honor his life, at St. Joseph Catholic Village Church (corner of Dover and Fourth). The Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, September 26 at 11:00am with instate starting at 10:00am at St. Joseph Catholic Village Church.
