Ronnie Merritt

Ronald Merritt heard the Lord say well done thy good and faithful servant on January 20, 2018 in Novi MI. Legacy farewell celebration will be January 31, 2018 Wednesday at Robbins Brothers Funeral Home, 204 S Fair Ave Benton Harbor MI, with visitation starting at 11:00am followed by service 12:00 noon.

Born on March 28th, 1951 to Paul L. Merritt and Georgia M. Merritt in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Ron attended Bard Elementary School, He graduated from Benton Harbor High in 1969, he later attended Eastern University. He attended Jackson Community College in Jackson MI, receiving his associate in Applied Arts and Science. Ron was a former employee at Ford Motors, and he was also the co-owner of a non-profit organization called "Uplifting Yourself Foundation", founded in 2011. Giving back to the community.

In 1996 Ron met his smart, beautiful, and loving wife Gail. They later wed in February of 2011. They love to visit family, taking cruises and ballroom dancing. Ron fathered two children Monita Miller and Monte LeVant Freeman l.

Survivors: Son: Monte LeVant Freeman Sister: Glenda (Donald) Kavanaugh, Kandi (Stephen) Bowers. Brothers: Todd (Shirley) Merritt, Joey (Dechelle) Merritt, Micah L. Merritt. Grandchildren: Monte LeVant ll, Jaiah, Nymir, Zi'Air, Jamarea, Imani.

Nephews: Carlos (Mona) Merritt, Brian (Rebecca) Merritt, Marlon A. Curry, Joey A. Merritt Jr, Micah Jr, Nieces: Jessica M. Curry, Jasmine A. Merritt, Diamon L. Jones. Aunts: Ethel Jones, Williemae Williams, Earlene Sisson, 9 great nephews and 6 great nieces’. A host of Cousins, Classmates and Friends. Special cousin: Daryl Allen, brother-n-law Willie Thomas.

2 step-daughters: Tonya, Tamela and a step- grandson Aaron, a step-nephew DeAndre Johnson, and Carlos Merritt.

Preceded in death by daughter: Monita, brothers: Brian, Paul Jr. Grandparents: James (Leona), Lawson (Roberta) 6 Aunts, 10 uncles, 9 cousins, special friend Melvin Robinson.

God rest your soul Ronnie. I'll always remember you & the fun times we had in our Senior year at BHHS. My condolences to your family. RIP my friend. Cathy Brown Weatherspoon
