Gerald “Jerry” William Troike, 66, of St. Joseph passed away Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017, at his St. Joseph apartment overlooking a beautiful view of the river and town.Blank Ad

Jerry was born on Sept. 26, 1950, to Clarence and Helen (Newman) Troike in St. Joseph. He grew up on a small farm in Spinks Corners, attending Spinks Corners Elementary School. Jerry graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1969 and completed over 140 credits at Lake Michigan College and Western Michigan University without specifying a degree. He worked at Michigan Fruit Canners for many years.

Jerry spent much of his free time playing and listening to religious videos, hymns and polka music. In earlier years, he enjoyed restoring 1950 and 1960 model Corvettes and Chevys. Jerry was proud of his strong Christian beliefs and loved sharing his faith with others.

Jerry is survived by his three siblings: Helen Troike Looney of Hoxie, Ark., Robert Troike of Hartford, and Margie Troike of St. Joseph; 11 nieces and nephews; and numerous grand and great-grandnieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 902 Broad St., St. Joseph, MI 49085.
