Glendine Kay (Thomas) Reed

Glendine Kay Reed was born August 15, 1951, in Benton Harbor, MI, to the union of Voyd and Easter Thomas Sr. Kay graduated from Benton Harbor High School and was raised and baptized at Pilgram Rest Baptist Church. She married her high school sweetheart, Jewel C. Reed Jr (deceased), and moved to the west coast. To their union was born Iasha “Shay” Hernandez, Taniesha Reed, and son Ramelle Jewel Reed (deceased). Kay was also a loving aunt/mother to JT Reed, Kaylia Reed, and Kylah Reed. Kay was very devoted to her family, which showed in how she nurtured and cared for them. Kay and the family attended various churches throughout the Phoenix valley. She loved to travel, but most of all looked forward to going back home to Benton Harbor, MI, to visit family and friends, which was the highlight of her summer travel. Kay was preceded in death by her son Ramelle Jewel Reed, her husband Jewel C. Reed Jr., her parents Voyd & Easter Thomas, brothers Voyd Thomas Jr., Larry Thomas Sr., Robert Thomas, Charles Thomas, and beloved family member George Hinson-Rider. Glendine Kay Reed leaves to cherish her loving memory to her children Iasha (Alfredo) Hernandez, and Taniesha Reed, granddaughter Anika Mendelsohn, JT Reed, Kaylia Reed, and Kylah Reed. Sisters Beatrice (David) Davis of St. Joseph, MI, and Vivian (Ronnie) Brown of Benton Harbor, MI. Sister in Laws Betty Thomas of Benton Harbor, MI; Rosie Thomas of South Bend, IN; Patricia Reed of Houston, TX; Gwendolyn Reed of Kalamazoo, MI; Sandra Reed of Climax, MI; Peggy (Zonnie) Askew of Romulus, MI. Brother in Laws Kevin Reed of Junction City, KS, James Reed of Greenbelt, MD, Cliff (Sharon) Reed of Upper Marlboro, MD, one of her very special friends Denise Williams, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
